Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:

When to book a Havelock rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • To start, have your group agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 3BR Duplex - Dogs OK! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
  • If there's a specific Havelock destination you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
