Tricks and tips to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 3BR Duplex - Dogs OK! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
