How to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental in the Havelock area:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. A Place At The Beach 191, Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
