Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book a perfect Havelock rental home:
- First, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beachfront get away has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
