Tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summer months are high season in Atlantic Beach. To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing your prefect Havelock rental:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. “Castaways\" Atlantic Beach Family Fun Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular Havelock attraction you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
