Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 4BR, Ocean Front, Dogs OK - One Level! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
