Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To book the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. 4BR, Ocean Front, Dogs OK - One Level! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
