Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Havelock area:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Family beach cottage poised between the ocean, hiking, biking, eateries & shops has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
