Booking the best Havelock rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Havelock vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Good Day Sunshine, Oceanfront Duplex, Located in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
