Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:

When to book a Havelock rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Ocean Front Cottage with Mother-in-law Suite has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Havelock destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
