How to find the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking a perfect Havelock rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Rest Ashore, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
