Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Rx Pad, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
