Strategies to get the best Havelock vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To find the best vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 2 BR steps from beach access, dog-friendly NO FEE! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
