Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Havelock rental home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2nd row, beautiful views, quiet, wide uncrowded beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
