Tips for getting the perfect Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Emerald Isle rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2nd row, beautiful views, quiet, wide uncrowded beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
