Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book a Havelock rental & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. A Place at the Beach III Family Resort. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Havelock beach you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
