How to get the best rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book the perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. A Wave From It All - First Floor Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
