How to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Newly Renovated-Amazing 360 views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sound -with Pool. has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
