Our top Havelock rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Havelock rental home:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation rental:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Amazing Second Row Home with private salt water in ground pool has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Know before you go:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
