Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
How to get the best value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Havelock area. Booking in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home in the Havelock area:
- Start by having your family decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Mother-in-Law Suite Upon Request! 0.4 mile walk to the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
