Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the best Havelock rental home:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful views from our 2nd row home with updates has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
