How to get the best Havelock rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the perfect rental in Beaufort:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. The Lookout, Soundside House in Historical Beaufort, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
