Tips to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Better Daze, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
