Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book a perfectrental:
- First and foremost, have your family select vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Blondie East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
