Tips to get the perfect Havelock rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family select date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. 4BR duplex close to town and ocean front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
