Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Start by having your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 4BR duplex close to town and ocean front! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
