Rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Beaufort. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Coastal Cottage, walk to downtown Beaufort, close to beaches, pet friendly. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
