Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cozy family cottage, just steps from the sea and close to everything.\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
