Our top Emerald Isle vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Summer months are high season in the Havelock area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectrental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Magnificent Sandcastle ocean-front 7br, Private pool, hot tub, kids room, decks has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
