Getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Witt's Inn, Soundfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
