Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by having your family select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Exclusive Dolphin Ridge 'Island Time' with private pool and golf cart has 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Havelock beach you long to visit, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
