Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Exclusive Dolphin Ridge 'Island Time' with private pool and golf cart has 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before booking the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home.
