Tips and Tricks to get the very best Havelock vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Booking your Havelock vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Family & Pet Friendly Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you simply love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
