Havelock vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the perfect rental in Pine Knoll Shores:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Luxurious Oceanfront, Atlantic Beach\/PKS family Home, 4 bedrooms 6 bathrooms has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
