Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing and booking the best Havelock rental:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. NEW! Ocean Front 2BR AMAZING VIEWS at Ocean Reef on Emerald Isle, NC - 6A2 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
