How to book the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Ocean Club R202, Soundfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
