Finding the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and choosing the best Havelock rental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly oceanfront single-family Emerald Isle home! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
