Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront and dog-friendly in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
