Vacation rental tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront beach cottage with large deck & W\/D - dog-friendly has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
