How to get the best rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 3BR Duplex - Ocean Front - Coast Guard Rd. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
