Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the best rental for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- First, have your group choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 3 Bed\/3 Bath ~ 2nd Floor Oceanfront Prime Condo ~ Elevator ~ 1205 Queens Court has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
