How to get the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • First, have your group choose dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Highsmith Cottage (Oceanfront Home) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
