How to find the best Havelock rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Finding the perfect rental home in the Havelock area:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean\/Sound View Condo Near Beach with WiFi, Private Deck, & W\/D - Dog-Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More considerations:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
