Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First, have your family select the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Pet Friendly, Ocean Front, ONE LEVEL! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
  • If there's a specific Havelock destination you simply love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
