Havelock vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking a perfectrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Home in the Perfect Location on Emerald Isle-Dog Friendly has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
