Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- To get the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. PET FRIENDLY OCEANFRONT COTTAGE WITH EASY ACCESS has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
