Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Havelock attractions and restaurants.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing and booking your Havelock rental:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sunny Side, Soundside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
