Emerald Isle rental home tips:
Sticking to a budget:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- First, have your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Prior Engagement: Pet Friendly Beach Cottage at Emerald Isle on The Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
