Booking the best Emerald Isle vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.

- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.

- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
