Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting the perfect rental in the Havelock area:
- To start, have your group select dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. R&R, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 11 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Havelock attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, note any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
