Tips for getting the perfect Havelock vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Start by having your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. SeaSpray 244, Almost Oceanfront Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Havelock attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
