Finding the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Southwinds F4 1st Floor Direct Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
