Tips for getting the best Beaufort vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Spectacular Sunrises over the Waters of North River has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
