Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Book your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spindrift, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 8 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Havelock attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
