Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Studio Condo at Atlantic Beach waiting for you to come and play :) has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
